The John Tracy Clinic

Hello again,
our three weeks in this summer camp have ended and even though I feel very tired from all the information that I have received and the strong relationships developed by the parents of families of deaf and hard of hearing children, I feel so empowered and with a lot of hope for the future of my son. I just wanted to share this video of the clinic with my blog friends if you want to know a bit better what all of this was about.

Hola de nuevo,
nuestras tres semanas en este campamento han terminado y aunque me siento muy agotada por toda la iunformacion recibida y por las relaciones tan fuertes creadas con familias de ninhos sordos, me siento con tanta fuerza y con esperanza en un futuro increible para mi hijo. Solo quisiera compartir este video de la clinica con mis amigos del blog si os interesa saber un poco mas de que se trata todo esto.

These weeks I have been able to share moments with my sewing, but I am missing meeting with my friends and sharing our sewing moments. Interestingly enough, I have shared many of my special moments with my sewing friends with these families in Los Angeles during our support groups. They were all amazed by how lucky I am to have such a wonderful group of friends. And I know! I am also missing reading blogs and getting back into my crafting blogging world. But in just a few days we will be back and able to catch up.

Estas semanas he tenido tiempo a solas con mi costura, pero echo de menos reunirme con mis amigas y compartir momentos costureros. Lo interesante es que he compartido muchos de mis momentos con mis amigas con las que coso con estas familias en Los Angeles durante nuestros grupos de apoyo. Estaban impresionados de lo afortunada que soy de tener un grupo tan maravilloso de amigas. Y lo se! Tambien echo de menos leer blogs y volver a mi mundo de las manualidades y de escribir en el blog. Pero en tan solo unos dias volveremos y me pondre al dia.

Hello from California

Hello everybody,

We are still here in California, just over the first week of our course here to help Luca with his hearing loss and so far it has been an amazing experience. It is incredible how much one can learn in such a short period of time. I guess we found the best place that there could be to help parents of hearing impaired children, it is inspirational and helpful. When a person really wants to make a difference, all it takes is the will to do it and determination. Louis Tracy did that and so many families are benefiting from it now.
Here I don't have much access to internet, tv or any other entertainment, so my mom's quilt is getting finished! what a great opportunity to sew! Hope everybody is doing great and thanks for thinking of us!

Todavia estamos en California, justo mas dee una semana despues de comenzar nuestro curso para ayudar a Luca con su problema de audicion y por ahora ha sido una experiencia increible. Es increible cuanto puede aprender uno en tan poco tiempo. Creo que encontramos el mejor lugar en el mundo donde ayudan a padres de ninhos con problemas de audicion, me inspira y ayuda mucho.Cuando una persona realmente quiere cambiar las cosas, todo lo que supone es querer y determinacion. Louis Tracy lo hizo y por ello muchas familias se estan beneficiando ahora.
Aqui no tengo mucho acceso a internet, television o a nada de entretenimiento,, asi que la quilt de mi madre esta siendo acabada!que gran oportunidad para coser! Espero que todas esteis bien y gracias por pensar en nosotros!

A break for the summer

It looks like the heat of summer keeps me a bit slow. I have been trying hard to get things done and in the meantime, I have left my blog a bit to the side. I guess first things come first. Luca occupies most of my time and when I have a bit spare, I try to catch up with other things, including doing some crafts. But not much. We had a baby shower for some friends that came from another town, and I decided I had to make something special for this new baby. My friend Pilar helped me, I had no energy to finish this mini quilt, or hanging quilt, and that not only made me happy (good company is always appreciated in a boring Saturday afternoon) but also helped me get inspired to finish a beautiful little present. The baby's mama like it.

Parece que el calor del verano me tiene un poco lenta. He estado intentando con todas mis fuerzas dejar cosas hechas y mientras tanto, he dejado mi blog un poco de lado. Supongo que lo primero es lo primero. Luca me tiene bastante ocupada y cuando tengo un ratito, intento adelantar con cosas pendientes incluyendo hacer algunas manualidades. Pero no mucho. Tuvimos una fiesta para unos amigos que esperan una ninha y que viven en otra ciudad, y decidi hacer algo especial para este bebe. Mi amiga Pilar me ayudo, no tenia ya energias para acabar esta mini quilt, o cuadrito de tela, asi que no solo estuve feliz (buena companhia se aprecia en tardes de sabado aburridas) pero ademas me ayudo a inspirarme a acabar este regalito tan mono. A la mama del bebe le gusto.

Today I just wanted to share some pictures of my blooming plants, just like Gisele did today. Her garden must be incredible, mine is just begging for some water and barely making it. Also, Luca and I are leaving for a while to California. Let's see if it makes it without us. We are going to attend a summer camp for children that are hearing impaired and their parents. This will be an excellent experience for both of us and a nice change from the hot summer holidays. I will be away from computers for a while, but I will be back sometime in July. I hope everybody has a great summer!

Hoy solo queria compartir algunas imagenes de mis plantas que estan floreciendo, como hizo Gisele hoy. Su jardin debe ser increible, el mio esta suplicando agua y casi sobrevive. Ademas, Luca y yo nos vamos por un tiempo a California. A ver si sobrevive nuestra ausencia. Nos vamos a un curso para ninhos con problemas de audicion y sus padres. Sera una buenisima experiencia para los dos y un cambio agradable del caluroso verano en Florida. Estare lejos de los ordenadores por un tiempo, pero volvere en Julio. Espero que todos tengais un buen verano!
