why can't I blog?

Why can't I blog? Well I obviously can, I just don't find time for it. I don't want to find time for it. I thought maybe if I do it today I will get going...I am reorganizing my life, I am doing what I have never done, write lists of what I need to accomplish and scratch and get things done as soon as possible. If I see something that I don't like, I fix it instead of leaving it for later...which is what I usually do...I feel a sense of urgency in taking care of things that I have left behind for too long, in making my place more livable and do the most important things first.

¿Porque no puedo escribir en el blog? bueno, obviamente si que puedo, pero no encuentro el tiempo. No quiero encontrar el tiempo. Pense que quizas si empiezo hoy seguire haciendolo...Estoy reorganizando mi vida, estoy haciendo lo que nunca hice, escribir listas de las cosas que necesito hacer y tachandolast cuanto antes. Si veo algo que no me gusta, lo arreglo en lugar de dejarlo para mas tarde...como normalmente hago...siento un sentimiento de urgencia en hacer las cosas cuanto antes que he abandonado durante mucho tiempo, en hacer mi casa mas habitable y en hacer las cosas mas importantes primero.

Luca has been such a helper. He has a great character and he behaves very well. He makes my life so much easier, I guess he is getting older and more responsible for his actions. He is talking up a storm, I can't understand most of the time but the important thing is that he tries. He wants to talk on the phone to everyone, we fight for the phone daily...

Luca esta siendo de gran ayuda. Tiene muy buen caracter y se comporta muy bien. Me hace la vida mas facil, y supongo que sera porque se esta haciendo mayor y es mas responsable de sus acciones. Esta hablando mucho, no le entiendo la mayoria del tiempo pero lo importante es que lo intenta. Quiere hablar por telefono con todo el mundo, nos peleamos por el telefono a diario...

And I want to get back to making my quilt, I was so fast with it at the beginning and then all of a sudden we started traveling and I had to stop it. Here are my little already cut pieces...just have to get my sewing machine craking...

Y queria volver a ponerme a hacer la quilt para mi cuarto, fui tan rapido al principio y despues de repente empece a viajar y tuve que parar. Aqui estan mi pedacitos ya cortados...solo tengo que poner a mi maquina en marcha...

Another thing I made lately was a peek-a-boo bag. I learned about this from a parent at the Moog Center for deaf education. This bag is full of rice and has objects. When we are in the waiting room of a doctor's office and you want to entertain a child, you can make them find the different objects from the bag. I used a pencil bag with a window and rice and small objects around the house. It is interesting to make it with objects that start with each of the letters of the alphabete and write the names of the objects in the back of the bag. I need to lock the bag so that the rice doesn't come out, it's too tempting like this. I was thinking that I could use fabric to make objects too...but that would be more time consumings. It's an easy and fun little game to give as a present to a little kid.

Otra cosa que he hecho recientemente es una bolsita de secretos. Lo aprendi de una madre en el Centro Moog para educacion de los sordos. Esta bolsa esta llena de objetos y arroz. Cuando estamos en una sala de espera del medico y se necesita entretener a un niño, puedes hacerles buscar diferentes objetos de la bolsa. Yo use un estuche de lapices con una ventanita y arroz y objetos chicos que encontre por casa. Es interesante hacerlo con objetos que empiezan con cada una de las letras del abecedario y escribir los nombres de los objetos por detras. Necesito cerrar la bolsa para uq eno se pueda habrir poque sino sacar el arroz es muy tentador. Estaba pensando que podria usar tela para hacer objectos...pero eso seria muy trabajoso. Es un regalito divertido y facil de hacer para un niño pequeño.

New hair cut

My little boy got a hair cut. It was not an easy task, especially because we started off with the greeting of a dog bigger than him, and he is not very fond of animals, not near him anyways...but the results are good I think and he is spending so much time playing outside that even his hair seems to be getting lighter.

A mi chiquitin le cortamos el pelo. No fue facil, sobretodo porqeu empezamos con una visita inesperadad de un perro mas grande que el, y a el no es que le encanten los animales, por lo menos no cerca de el...pero resulto bien creo y esta pasando tanto tiempo fuera jugando que incluso su pelo se esta poniendo mas clarito.

Still having fun

It has been a while now since the last time that I posted something here. It is hard when I don't have my routine. I am also enjoying a few days of good rest and good company and my mind has been flying thinking about the future but haven't focused much about the present. I have had some good days in this past week visiting old friends. It is nice to see all this different people at least once a year, good friends feels like if you saw them every other weekend, things don't change, the friendship stays intact.

Hace tiempo desde la ultima vez que escribi aqui. Es dificil cuando no estoy en mi rutina. Tambien estoy disfrutando de unos dias de descanso y de buena companhia y mi mente ha estado volando pensando en el futuro y no tanto en el presente. He tenido unos dias agradables en estas semanas en las que he podido visitar amigos. Da gusto ver a toda esta gente por lo menos una vez al anho, las buenas amistades parece como si las vieras cada dos fines de semana, las cosas no cambian, la amistad sigue intacta.

We were in the mountains, the view was so beautiful, so peaceful and the light, well look at those wild flowers from up there, aren't they amazing? We spent some time with the family enjoying homamade meals, yummy baked good from the farmers market, yummy bakes food from friends, pretty flowers and fun adventures in the wild west.

Estuvimos en las montanhas, las vistas preciosas, tan apacible y la luz, bueno mirad que flores silvestres tan bonitas de por alli, increibles no? Pasamos algun tiempo con la familia disfrutando de comidas hechas en casa, pasteles del mercado, pasteles hechos por amigos, flores bonitas y aventuras en el lejano oeste.

I also visited my good friend, neighbor, cyberfriend and craftyfriend Gisele and we took this pictures that is now becoming a tradition. It should have been taken at he fabric store, but we forgot doing so this time. We did not forget to buy some fabrics and build up a bit more our stash...

Tambien visite a mi amiga, vecina, ciberamiga y amiga de costura Gisele y nos hicimos esta foto que ya se esta convirtiendo en una tradicion. Deberia hacerla tomado en la tienda de telas, pero se nos olvido en el momento. De lo que no nos olvidamos fue de comprar unas telitas para aumentar nuestro monton...

Water bottles

Hello again! Following the previous post about fondant, this is the recipe I followed to make it. The problem is that in countries like Spain it might be difficult to find marshmellows like here in the US. There is also another recipe with corn syrup but again I am not sure if we have that either back in Spain.

¡Hola de nuevo! Siguiendo el post anterior sobre fondant, esta es la receta que segui para hacerlo. El problema es que en paises como España puede ser dificil encontrar las nubecitas como aqui en los EEUU. Tambien hay otra receta con sirope de maiz que creo que puede ser dificil encontrarlo en España.

And this is something that my friend first made for Luca, a holder for a water thermos. He loves it and uses it a lot so I made some others while I was away. The owners loved them! their mamas too!

Y esta es otra cosa que mi amiga le hizo a Luca, una bolsita para un termo de agua. Le encanta y lo usa mucho asi que hice otros mientras estuve fuera. Sus due;as lo adoran y sus mamas tambien!

Fondant

I finally was able to make my first cake with fondant. My sister taught me how to make it and it came out quite well, and pretty, considering that we had more little helpers than we really needed...I am already planning on making a new one with my friend who loves making cakes...so exciting...

Y por fin hice mi primera tarta con fondant (la cubierta). Mi hermana me enseño a hacerla y salio bastante bien, considerando qeu teniamos mass manitas ayudantes de las que necesitabamos...ahora esty planeando la proxima con mi amiga a quien le encanta hacer tartas..que emocion



The inside was chocolate cake with layers of whipped cream and others with rasperry jam and had some orange flavor as well. It tasted quite well. I am not crazy about the flavor of the fondant but kids like it for some reason, well it's made out of marshmellows...

Lo de dentro era bizcocho de chocolates con capas de nata montada y de mermelada de moras y con algo de sabor a naranja. Estaba rica. No me encanta el sabor de la cubierta pero a los niños les gusta no se porque, bueno esque esta hecho de nubecitas...



We celebrated my niece's 3rd birthday and my names day and my other's niece name's day, it was fun and wonderful to be able to celebrate all this with my family.

Celebramos el cumple de mi sobrina y mi santo y el de mi otra sobrina, fue divertido y maravilloso poder celebrar todo esto con mi familia.
