Birthday party

Today we celebrated Luca's 4th birthday. It was a great day, lots of great friends, great sunny weather outside and wonderful moments spent with family and friends. The best, this little superheroe, he was spiderman and batman all at once! I made him this spiderman piñata and with the help of my friend we made him this batman cake. It dissapeared in no time! I got him an easel so we can paint together. But the best present...hearing him talk and talk and talk. He is progressing, it just takes being with other to realize how much!!

Hoy celebramos el cuarto cumpleaños de Luca. Fue un dia muy bonito, muchos buenos amigos, un tiempo con un solazo muy bueno y muchos momentos increibles con nuestra familia y amigos. Lo mejor, este superheroe, era el hombre araña y batman ¡todo en uno! Le hice esta piñata del hombre araña y con la ayuda de mi amiga le hicimos esta tarta de batman. ¡Desapareció enseguida! Le regale un caballete par uqe pintemos juntos. Pero el mejor regalo...oirle hablar y hablar y hablar. Esta avanzzando mucho, solo lleva que lleguen los demás que no lo ven ¡¡¡para darnos cuenta cuanto!!!

Easel

I just found an easel in the dumpster...yes I find stuff there once in a while...maybe this was a sign I should continue with my painting that I left so long ago...

Me encontre un caballete en el basurero...si encuentro cosas ahi de vez en cuando...quizas est sea una senhal de que debo continuar con mi cuadro que abandone hace tanto...

Can you tell is two hands holding two chubby feet? It's not too clear I need to work on it some more...but not time now, maybe in a couple of months things will change.

Se nota que son dos manos cogiendo dos pies regordetes? No se ve my claro asi que tengo que retocarlo...pero aahora no tengo tiempo, quizas en un par de meses las cosas cambien.

When I post I post

Yes, I realize that either I have nothing to say, not enough time, too many worries in my head or laziness to post OR I am all for it, lots to share, nice images and some ideas to talk about and I don't stop posting!!! Well here I am again, with a crafty post. It has been a long time that I don't share anything that I have been making. Of course with so much traveling I haven't had the chance to do much, but in October I did finished some presents that I wanted to share with you.

Si, me doy cuenta de que o no tengo nada que decir, o no tengo tiempo, demasiadas preocupaciones en mi cabeza o pura pereza para escribir O me paso el dia escribiendo, tengo mucho que compartir, bonitas fotos y algunas ideas que contar y no paro de escribir!!! Bueno pues aqui estoy de nuevo, y escribiendo sobre mis manualidades. Hace tiempo que no os muestro nada de lo que he estado haciendo. Claro que con tanto viaje no he tenido mucho tiempo, pero en Octubre si tuve y acabe unos regalos y queria ensenharoslos.

Someone close to Luca and I is having her first baby. I had to make her something, and I ended up making a decoration for the baby shower with her name on, that she can use in her room or in birthday celebrations as well, she liked it. I also made her a quilt, simple one, but with that beautiful fabric I bought and quilting some of the animals. I am getting better at using the handfree quilting feature of my machine.

Alguien cercano a Luca y a mi va a tener un bebe pronto. Queria hacerle algo y acabe haciendole la decoracion de la fiesta con su nombre, que la puede usar en su habitacion o como decoracion de fiesta de cumpleanhos, le gusto. Tambien le hice una colchita, sencilla, pero con una tela muy bonita que compre y acolche algunos animalitos. Estoy perfeccionando la tecnica del acolchado libre con mi maquina.

Ah and one more cute Luca moment. Since Luca's vocabulary is quite limited still, he came to my bed this morning, and I turned to my side and he didn't like me being so far from him and he said "too loud!" because he doesn't know how to say "too far!" and I can't correct him because he can't hear me, but I do it later when he has his ears on.

Y un momento chuli de Luca. Como el vocabulario de Luca es bastante limitado, vino a mi cama esta manhana, y me di la vuelta para mi lado y no le gusto porque estaba demasiado lejos de el y me dijo "muy alto!" porqeu no sabe como decir "muy lejos!" y no le puedo corregirle porque no me oye, pero lo hago despues cuando ya tiene sus oiditos puestos.

Outraged!!

Sometimes it is so easy living here. In fact, many times, especially when I talk to friends who went back to their home countries I realize how life can be really comfortable and convenient here. Except for sometimes. And I do realize that this is not the same for everyone, I do realize that overall I am a very fortunate person and life is easy for me. But today...I am outraged, I am mad and I feel the pain of the opression over those who most need to be helped. My son is being the victim now and so am I. I had to reapply for health insurance and this time, even though we have been a loyal customer for a few years now, he has been denied a conventional policy and he can only have a policy that is outragesly expensive. All because he is d/Deaf, because he wears cochlear implants and because he needs speech therapy for his rehabilitation. He is not even illegible for dental or life insurance. CRAZY.

A veces es tan fácil vivir aquí. De hecho, muchas veces, sobretodo cuando hablo con amigos que regresaron a sus países de orígen me doy cuenta de que la vida aqui puede ser mucho más cómoda y fácil. Menos algunas veces. Y me doy cuenta de qeu no es lo mismo para todos, me doy cuenta que en general soy muy afortunada y la vida es fácil para mí. Pero hoy...tengo una rabia, estoy enfadadísima y siento el dolor de la opresión sobre aquellos que más ayuda necesitan. Mi hijo es la víctima hoy y también lo soy yo. Tuve que volver a solicitar el seguro de salud y esta vez, aunque hemos sido fieles a cierta compañía durante varios años, a mi hijo le han denegado una pólica de seguro convencional y solo puede tener una póliza que es increiblemente cara. Todo por ser sordo, por tener implantes cocleares y porque necesita terapia del habla para su rehabilitación. Ni siquiera le cubrirían si pidiera seguro dental o de vida. DE LOCOS.

I know we will figure this one out, there has to be a better way. In the meantime, government please please please we need a healthcare overhaul soon!

Sé que saldremos de esta, tiene que haber una mejor opción. Pero mientras tanto, gobierno por favor por favor por favor, necesitamos un cambio radical en el sistema de salud ¡ya!

Birthday boy

My little boy is 4. Now he is understanding more and realizing that at 4 you have more responsibilities in life, or so his mother tells him. He is proud of being 4 and also is super super excited about the celebration...or rather celebrations. On his birthday he is working hard on a study about bilateral implants, we are in the cold northern lands of the USA.

Mi ninho ya tiene 4 anhos. Ahora entiende mas y se da cuenta que a los 4 uno tiene mas responsabilidades en la vida, o asi se lo cuenta su madre. Esta orgulloso de tener ya 4 y tambien emocionado por la celebracion...o mejor dicho las celebraciones. En su cumple esta trabajando duro en un estudio sobre implantes bilatereales, estamos en las tierras frias del norte de los EEUU.

The fall even in these lands brings us some type of beauty. Is this going to be now my new favorite season? Maybe. Well I love the grasses in my hubby's garden, in the fall they have pink blooms and feel soft and fluffy. I also love the skies. Very romantic, right? Here are our memorials, just some of them, the garden, the live oak tree, the swing.

El otoño nos trae incluso por estos lares mucha belleza. ¿va a ser esta mi nueva estación favorita? Quizás. Bueno, me encantan los forrajes en el jardín de mi marido, en el otoño tienen inflorescencias rosas y se ven tan suaves y esponjosas. También me encanta el cielo. Muy romántico, ¿no? Fall

Hi! It's been a while, and I suspect that is is as frequent as I am going to write for the next coming months. I have been traveling and some more travels are ahead of me and that puts a spin in our lives. Here I just want to share the beautiful colors of the fall in my past visit with my sister. And since we don't have fall in Florida, it was three time that amazing for me!!!

Hola! Hace rato que no escribo, y sospecho que va a ser tan frecuente como lo voy a hacer en los proximos meses. He estado viajando y hay mas viajes programados en un futuro y eso nos altera nuestras vidas. Solo queria compartir los colores tan bonitos del otonho en mi ultima visita con mi hermana. Y como no tenemos otonho en Florida, lo disfrute el triple!!!

I missed my little spiderman who was having the time of his life with his grandparents. Now he is sad and cranky because he misses them too. The first thing he told me is that he went trick or treat with granny...wow, I get surprised everyday with his progress...

Eche de menos mi pequenho spiderman que se lo estaba pasando pipa con sus abuelos. Ahora esta triste y de mal humor porque les echa de menos. Lo primero que me dijo cuando me vio es que fue a hacer truto o trato con la abuelita...wow, me sorprende cada dia con su progreso...

And today is all saints day. We had out little ceremony here remembering my husband by placing some plaques that will always remind anybody who sees them of him in his garden and swing. I will post pictures soon...

Y hoy es el dia de todos los santos. Tuvimos nuestra ceremonia particular acordandonos de mi marido poniendo unas plaquitas que siempre le recuerden a cualquiera que las vean en su jardin y su columpio. Pondre fotos pronto...
