Wycinanki and Scherenschnitte

My husband gave me for my birthday this beautiful card:

I already knew this technique, I learned about it when he bought me this book:

Yo ya conocia esta tecnica, la aprendi hace dos anhos cuando me regalo este libro:


The techniques is based on cutting papers of different colors into amazing shapes and overlapping them. This is an example of a very difficult wycinanki from this book:

La tecnica se basa en cortar papeles de diferentes colores de formas increibles y sobreponerlos para crear mas dimension. Este es un ejemplo muy dificil de un wycinanki de este libro:


My sister gave me this beautiful picture that was made by a polish artist:

Mi hermana me dio este cuadro tan bonito hecho por una artista polaca:


Based on the roosted I created this one. I gave it to her.

Basandome en este gallo hice este otro. Se lo di a ella.

Very nice! Does it matter the kind of paper you use?

I bought a paper that is very thin and easy to cut but at the same time it doesn'r rip when you cut it. I don't know the name of this paper, it's white in the back and shiny in the front. But I guess you can try with different kinds of craft papers. Thanks!

Wow, I love your rooster. Very colorful and fun. I hadn't heard of "wycinanki" before but I'll have to start exploring it some.
