The place where I live

I live in Florida, US, but unfortunatelly not so close to the beach. I was born and raised very close to the beach, and the Mediterranean Sea is something I really miss. If I only lived a bit closer to the coast... I can't really complain because in a 1.5-2 h drive I can see either the Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico. But still that doesn't happen very often, only 3-4 times a year. At the most. So far I think I went to the beach for 2 days in New Year's, that's it.
During the years I spent here however, I became very close to this particular plant that grows in the beach, specifically on top of the dunes. This plant is named Sea Oats and I know a lot about them, I researched about them. Thanks to them I got to visit the beach a few times, just a few hard work beach days. These photos down here are Sea Oats.

My creation

Inspired by all this I decided to make my wristlet to Lori representing a beach in Florida with Sea Oats. I embroidered the Seat Oats the best way I could remember them, in the dune. I also made sure I had an Ocean, birds and sand and lined it with a flowery fabric that I love. I hope she likes it.

I am also trying new labels with my blog name, they didn't come out very clear, I might have to play some more with the colors. To learn how to make these labels you can find it here.

And this is a tissue paper holder, inspired in my previous home, Japan.

The pictures of the Seat Oats are stunningly beautiful. We have some pictures of the same plant--we didn't know it's name when we took the picture--taken on St Joe's Peninsula Island. If you like a beautiful quite beach and Sea Oats you should go there if you get the chance. The beach had been voted the #1 beach in the US back in 2001, I believe. But be prepared because it is really, really quite. There's no concession shop or anything that looks like it. There is beach. And Sea Oats.

The wristlet turned out gourgeus. It was such a good idea to embroider see oats on it. See oats are for sure very representative of Florida's beaches. Good job!!
