lemon bread

I finally made the lemon bread that I talked about earlier. The looks are wonderful (although my pictures didn't come out all that great as I took the pictures with low light). I had several problems with it though. First of all, the curd that I made was not very solid, it was more in the liquid side...so when I spread it in the dough it started slipping away...and as you let it rise for 45 min after that, most of it came out... sooo it lost some of the lemon flavor... but I think the dough flavor was still good. I loved making the braid, it is really easy and it looks so nice... I got the recipe from here.

Finalmente hice el pan de limón que he hablado antes. Las pintas son maravillosas (aunque mis fotos no salieron muy bien ya que tomé las fotos con poca luz). Sin embargo, tuve varios problemas con él. En primer lugar, la cuajada que hice no era muy sólida, mas bien líquida... así que cuando la extendi en la masa empezó a salirse... y como se deja subir 45 minutos mas, la mayor parte se escurrió... asi que perdió parte del sabor del limón... pero creo que el sabor de la masa era buena. In Florida we had several memorials for my husband, including the planting of several ginkgo trees. Since we met in Japan and there were so many beautiful ginkgos there, we had used that ginkgo leaf as a symbol for our wedding invitations and now to remember him. Here in St Louis, I received a present last December for my wedding anniversary, a ginkgo tree in memory of my husband in a beautiful park around here. The notice that the tree was planted arrived today. For some reason it makes me happy and sad, as usual. Can't wait to go and see it.

The spring here was beautiful, the flowers on the trees only lasted 2 weeks though. But now everything is green, the weather is pleasant and all we do is go to the park, play ball, or run or do a picnic, just enjoy the outdoors while it is not too hot.

En Florida tuvimos varios recordatorios para mi marido, con la plantación de varios ginkos. Como nos conocimos en Japón y había ginkos tan bonitos allí, utilizamos la hoja de ginko como un símbolo para las invitaciones de nuestra boda y ahora para recordarle. Aquí en San Luis, recibí un regalo en diciembre por mi aniversario de boda, un ginko plantado en memoria de mi marido en un parque precioso de por aquí. El anuncio de que el árbol fue plantado llegó hoy. Por alguna razón me hace sentir feliz y triste a la vez, como siempre. Tengo unas ganas de verlo...

La primavera aquí fue hermosa, las flores de los árboles sólo duraron 2 semanas sin embargo. Pero ahora todo esta verde, el clima es agradable y todo lo que hacemos es ir al parque, jugar a la pelota, correr o hacer un picnic, simplemente disfrutar del aire libre mientras que no haga demasiado calor.

I haven't had much energy for blogging lately, I guess it's a phase of my life. But I am still baking and making things mostly in the kitchen, and as I get ready to make a lemon bread now, hopefully I will be able to post pictures soon.

No he tenido mucha energía para el blog últimamente, creo que es una etapa de mi vida. Pero todavía estoy haciendo cosas al horno y otras cosas en la cocina, y ahora me estoy preparando para hacer un pan de limón, del que espero poder poner fotos en breve.

More cakes

It looks like the only arts and crafts that I am involved in lately are happening in the kitchen. Luca tells me everyday that he wants a batman cake, even though he already had a batman cake for his birthday (I am guessing he loved that one). So with the leftover fondant from the other cake I decided to make him a little cake with a new chocolate recipe I got from a book from the library. The cake tastes really good although since I am not crazy about chocolate, I like it with something soft and sweet like whipped cream on top. It is delicious like that!
I also made a asparagus recipe from a book that my mom gave me a long time ago that belonged to her. The problem I had with this one is that I should have cooked the pastry first because it was not cooked all the way where the filling was sitting. The recipe didn't call for precooking the dough and that's why I didn't do it but lesson learned, I will do it regardless next time. It tasted really good though.


Parece que las unicas artes y manualidades a los que me dedico últimamente se están produciendo en la cocina. Luca me dice todos los días que quiere una tarta de batman, a pesar de que ya hice una para su cumpleaños (supongo que le gusto). Así, con el fondant sobrante de la otra tarta decidí hacerle una tartita con una receta de chocolate que leí en un libro de la biblioteca. El bizcocho de sabor esta muy bueno, aunque como a mi no me encanta el chocolate, me gusta con algo suave y dulce como la nata montada por encima. Esta riquisimo asi!
También hice una receta de espárragos de un libro que mi madre me dio hace mucho tiempo que era de ella. El problema que tuve es que debi haber cocinado la masa primero porque no se cocinó del todo por la parte donde estaba el relleno. La receta no decia que se precocinara la masa y por eso no lo hice, pero aprendi la lección, lo haré la próxima vez. Por lo menos sabía muy bien.

Yes! Our cake, the scorpion won our little homemade contest. It was fun making it and we all learned a lot. We got motivated to make more (I have to mini loafs in the oven right now) and we look at cakes with different eyes from now on.

We are all here waiting for the very much wanted final verdict of the cake challenge. We will have one tonight, and then, I will post more pictures about it. In the meantime, I will show some pictures of my latest gardening project. I decided that with this wonderful weather, my patio needed a better use and needed some plants. I took most of my indoor plants out and I can see them growing already. I also bought 3 little plants and a pot to make a mixed pot with Luca. We had fun making it and it looks really nice. We enjoy this patio sooo much that we have dinner out there every night. We need to get some decent furniture so that we can enjoy it even more. Has spring inspired you to do some gardening??

One hundred and eight years ago my grandmother was born. She was a wonderful woman and raised 6 children and had many grandchildren. We were lucky to spend the last decades of her life close to her. She was a strong, funny, smart, good woman and I miss her very much. With the wonderful technology of nowadays, I have a recording of a funny conversation we had with her in one of her latests Christmas, it is nice to hear her voice. I feel that my brain can't keep up with everything and as time goes by, I forget things, and I am scared to forget the sound and even how the faces and expressions were of those who we loved and have already left this world. One of these days I will organize many records I have to remember them so that Luca can have the feeling that he was also there when all of those moments recorded happened.

Hace ciento ocho años que mi abuela nacio. Era una mujer maravillosa que crio a 6 hijos y tenía muchos nietos. Tuvimos la suerte de pasar las últimas décadas de su vida cerca de ella. Era una mujer fuerte, divertida, inteligente, buena y yo la echo mucho de menos. Con la maravillosa tecnología de hoy en día, tengo una grabación de una conversación muy divertida que tuvimos con ella en una de sus ultimas Navidades, me encanta oír su voz. Siento que mi cerebro no puede mantenerse al día con todo y con el paso del tiempo, me olvido de las cosas, y tengo miedo de olvidar el sonido e incluso cómo eran las caras y las expresiones de nuestros seres queridos que ya han dejado este mundo. Un día de estos voy a organizar muchos archivos que tengo para recordarlos y para que Luca pueda tener la sensación de que él también estaba allí cuando todos esos momentos grabados sucedieron.

Cake challenge: fondant and critters

The critter cakes are out!!! Which one of all is more amazing! Many of these people have never made a fondant cake before and we made the fondant from marshmallows, and still they came out with these amazing and detailed creations!!!! It is so rewarding after all the stress of making the cake, thinking about what to make, finding materials and then solving little hurdles on the process...and of course we are getting better at it and learning a lot from the experience. Enjoy the beautiful pictures, I will unveil the winner later on and then our creation (I had two friends making my cake with me).

Y ya tenemos las tartas de bichos!!! Cual de ellos es mas increible! Muchas de estas personas nunca han hecho una tarta de fondant en su vida, e hicimos el fondant de nubecitas, y aun asi consiguieron estas creaciones tan chulas y con tanto detalle!!! Da un gusto despues de todo el estres de hacer una tarta, de pensar en que hacer, de encontrar los materiales y de resolcer pequenhos problemillas en el proceso...y claro esta que estamos mejorando y aprendiendo de la experiencia. Disfrutad de las fotos tan bonitas, revelare el ganados en unos dias y nuestra propia creacion (dos de mis amigas me ayudaron a hacer la tarta).

Back to steady?

This past month has been crazy. Crazy in the sense of out of the ordinary, lots of wonderful visitors, lots of wonderful visit, and no much time to have our regular lives in St Louis. I came back this month, a year older and with a renewed and rested spirit, to get into a cake making marathon. I mean, I even had dreams about it earlier this week (or should I say nightmares?. Anyways, it turned out a busy week of thinking, preparing and making a cake that will be part of our international challenge number two: fondant...bugs or critters are the theme...I was lucky to have good company and lots of help. Two of my friends here in St Louis wanted to learn how to make a cake out of marshmallow fondant and we got together to make it. It would have been hard to make without them, so much more fun and entertaining with them! Thank you girls! Our minds and hands working together make a great team! But I am not going to show that cake today, it will be judged early next week so then I will show all the cakes. I think we have made 8 o 9 cakes total between US, Spain and Sweden. I can't wait to see what the others made...

Este último mes ha sido una locura. Loco en el sentido de fuera de lo normal, hemos tenido muchos visitantes super, un montón de visitas por ahi, y no hay tiempo de seguir una vida normal aqui en San Luis. Volví este mes, un año mayor y con un espíritu renovado y descansado, para entrar en la maratón del concurso de pasteles.
es decir, que incluso tuve sueños sobre la tarta dichosa a principios de esta semana (o debería decir pesadillas?). De todos modos, resultó una semana muy ocupada pensando, preparando y haciendo un pastel que sera parte de nuestro concurso internacional de tartas número dos: ... fondant: insectos o bichos son el tema ... Tuve la suerte de tener buena compañía y mucha ayuda. Dos de mis amigas aquí en San Luis querían aprender a hacer un pastel de fondant de nubecitas y nos reunimos para hacerlo. Hubiera sido difícil hacerlo sin ellas, ha sido mucho más divertido y entretenido con ellas! Gracias chicas! Nuestras mentes y manos trabajando juntas hacen un gran equipo! Pero yo no voy a ensenhar la tarta hoy, será evaluada a principios la próxima semana y, lo que hare sera poner una foto de todas las tartas del concurso. Creo que hemos hecho 8 o 9 tartas (o estamos en ellos) total entre EE.UU., España y Suecia. Tengo unas ganas de ver lo que las demas hicieron ...

One year older

The way I see birthdays nowadays is very different from the way I used to see them just 4 years ago. I celebrate birthdays with happiness to know that I am still here, that I am lucky to have one more to enjoy with my little boy and with the people I care about. I am two years older than my husband ever was. That's how I measure my age. If only he could be here too to celebrate with us...

Como veo los cumpleaños hoy, es muy diferente de la manera en que yo los veía hace apenas 4 años. Celebro los cumpleaños con la alegría de saber que aún estoy aquí, que tengo la suerte de tener uno más para disfrutar con mi chiquitin y con la gente que me importa. Tengo dos años más que los que mi marido llego a tener. Asi es como mido mi edad. Ojala el pudiera estar aquí también para celebrarlo con nosotros ...

Slow but sweet

This blog is going in slow motion...I have been traveling, having lots of good company around, having a busy life and with a broken camera, so I have parked this blog a bit. We are enjoying Easter with our family and it is a good time to rest, eat well and enjoy the wonderful beginning of Spring.
We are getting ready for our second cake challenge. During these weeks I have had the oportunity to read more, practice more with my sister and get ready to make a fondant cake next week! I will have two helpers who want to learn how to make fondant cakes too and I need to make a plan so that not only we have fun in the process, but we also have a delicious and beautiful cake. Wish me luck...

Este blog va a cámara lenta ... he estado viajando, con un montón de buena compañía alrededor,he estado muy ocupada y mi camara se ha roto, así que he aparcado este blog un poco. Estamos disfrutando de la Semana Santa con con nuestra familia y es un buen momento para descansar, comer bien y disfrutar del maravilloso comienzo de la primavera.
Nos estamos preparando para nuestro reto de la segunda tarta. Durante estas semanas he tenido la oportunidad de leer más, practicar más con mi hermana y prepararme para hacer un pastel de pasta de azúcar (fondant) la próxima semana! Voy a tener dos ayudantes que quieren aprender a hacer pasteles de pasta de azucar y necesito hacer un plan para que no sólo nos divertimos en el proceso, pero también nos salga un pastel delicioso y precioso. Deséadme suerte ...

Butterfly

I have been spending time with my family laltely. It is crazy how kids consume all of our time, but we are enjoying it very much. My sister is into cake decorating lately and she has invited me to learn how to make a cake that needs to be constructed. We got an idea from a library book, it was simple and I think it turned out cute. The hardest part was making the icing, a hard labor to try to get the right colors, especially with little kids around us. I like how it turned out, especially considering that we really had about 15 min to decorate the cake after putting the icing. This one was made out of a round cake cut in half and then cut again to make the wing shape. Then you turn the halves around. Very easy and a nice result! We had fun making it, learned some things on the way, and got more excited about making more cakes !! we haven't tried it yet! but it has lemon filling that was pretty tasty...

He estado pasando tiempo con mi familia ultimamente. Es una locura cómo los niños consumen todo nuestro tiempo, pero estamos disfrutando mucho. Mi hermana está metida en la decoración de pasteles últimamente y me ha invitado a aprender cómo hacer un pastel construyendolo. Teniamos una idea sacada de un libro de biblioteca, que era simple y creo que resultó muy bonito. La parte más difícil fue hacer la crema, un trabajo dificil para tratar de conseguir los colores correctos, sobre todo con los niños pequeños que nos rodean. Me gusta la forma en que resultó, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que en realidad teníamos alrededor de 15 minutos para decorar el pastel después de poner la crema. Usamos un bizcocho redondo cortado por la mitad y luego se corta de nuevo para hacer la forma del ala. Luego les das la vuelta a las mitades. Muy fácil y un buen resultado! Nos divertimos haciéndolo, aprendimos algunas cosas haciendolo, y nos tiene más entusiasmadas con lo de hacer pasteles!! no lo hemos probado aún! pero lo hemos rellenado de limón que estaba muy sabroso ...

And let's play with fondant!

It's been a while since I last wrote. My life gets busier and more fun as time goes by. On top of that I have had several visitors in the past weeks and it is still going on. Family and friends. It is so nice to see them all...and Luca is having a great time. When we are done with visitors/visits after Easter he is going to be wondering why someone is not coming to visit us again! But then the weather will be better and we will have more time to spend outside. As for now, just now the weather has warmed up enough to enjoy a bit more outside fun, except for days like today, full of rain.

Remember my cake challenge? well we managed to get three of us together, which was a lot of fun, and a good oportunity to practice working with fondant. My friend and I created a beautiful cake for my niece and we felt really proud at the end. Our previous trial was not that successful, and by the time we were making this one, it already felt like a success. It was for my niece who turned 1 already. She liked it a lot and all the cousins did too. They grabbed the clown and the poles in no time after blowing the candle!

Hace tiempo desde la última vez que escribí. Me divierto mucho y estoy muy ocupada a medida que pasa el tiempo. Además de que he tenido varios visitantes en las últimas semanas y todavía están pasando. Familiares y amigos. Es tan bonito verlos a todos ... y Luca se lo está pasando super. Cuando acabemos de tener visitantes / visitas después de Semana Santa me va a estar preguntando por qué alguien no viene a visitarnos de nuevo! Pero luego hara mejor tiempo y pasaremos más tiempo para afuera. Como ultimamente, sólo ahora el clima se ha calentado lo suficiente como para disfrutar un poco mas de estar fuera, salvo en días como hoy, todo lluvioso.

Recordais mi reto de la tarta? por fin logramos que tres del grupo nos juntemos, y ha sido muy divertido, y una buena oportunidad para practicar con pasta de fondant. Mi amiga y yo hicimos una tarta preciosa para mi sobrina y nos sentimos muy orgullosas al final. Nuestro intento previo no fue tan exitoso, y mientras nos iba saliendo este, ya se sentíamos que iba a ser un éxito. Es para mi sobrina que cumplió 1 anho. Le gustó mucho y a todos los primos también. Agarraron el payaso y los palos rapidamente después de soplar la vela!

We will see how the next one comes out when we don't have such great company to work with!!!

New curtains

I am so proud of my new curtains. They are more than I had thought they would be. A huge butterfly on my wall shinning light through their wings in the morning. Why would I want to get out of bed on the weekends!!

Estoy tan orgullosa de mis cortinas nuevas. Son mas de lo que me imagine. Una tremenda mariposa en mi pared donde la luz atraviesa sus alas por la manhana. Porque me voy a tener que levantar de la cama por las manhanas!!!

My cake teacher and finally "k"

My sister is into cake decorating. She also has taught me and my friend over skype how to make flowers! She is the one that got me inspired to get more involved in all the dessert making, along with my friend. She just started a new class on cake decorating. She is learning new simple things everyday and she is enjoying it a lot. She said that she was the only one without a decent apron. That's where I can help. I made her this reversible apron, following the pattern from the Lotta Jansdotter book "simple sewing". I hope she likes it...

Mi hermana está interesada en la decoración de pasteles. Ella también me ha enseñado, y mi amiga a través de Skype cómo hacer flores! Ella es la que me inspiró a involucrarme más en toda lo de hacer postres, junto con mi amiga. Acaba de comenzar una clase nueva de decoración de pasteles. Está aprendiendo cosas nuevas todos los días y está disfrutandolo mucho. Me dijo que era la única que no tenia un delantal decente. Ahí es donde le puedo ayudar. Le hice este delantal reversible, siguiendo el modelo del libro de Lotta Jansdotter "Costura sencilla". Espero que le gusta ...

And in Luca news I am soooo happy today, because for the first time, I have heard Luca say the sound "k". I mean, I have been waiting for this moment for months, and I thought it was never going to arrive (this reminds me to when he was about to be born, but took forever). He clearly said it in several words, in others like "luca" he didn't use it but when I made him listen to me saying it he was able to repeat it....yeah!!!! I can't believe it! the speech teacher told me in January that they could teach him that, and I thought to myself, I will have to hear it to believe it, and two months later, voila! the boy is saying his ks. I'm so happy to be here.

Y con respecto a Luca hoy estoy muyyy feliz porque por primera vez, le he oído decir el sonido "k". Esque he estado esperando este momento desde hace meses, y pensé que nunca iba a llegar (esto me recuerda a cuando estaba a punto de dar a luz, y parecia que no llegaba nunca). Lo uso claramente en varias palabras, en otras, como "Luca" no lo lo hizo, pero cuando le hice que me escuchara a mí diciendolo, si que era capaz de repetirlo .... yupiii!! No lo puedo creer! la logopeda me dijo en enero que podría enseñarle ese sonido, y yo pense, tendré que escucharlo para creerlo, y dos meses más tarde, ¡voilá! el niño está diciendo sus ks. Estoy super feliz de estar aquí.

Little things

Today is COLD! Very cold, with snowflakes this morning, but the beautiful thing was that it was sunny, so while I was driving Luca to school this morning, it looked as if glitter was falling from the sky, shinny glitter under the sun, how beautiful! I don't mind the cold, as long as there is sun.

We had Luca's grandparents for a long weekend over. It was great for all of us. Luca was missing them and was very entertained all weekend. He even learned how to play go fish, which amazed me, because I know that he didn't know the numbers all that well and now he is getting much better. I got lucky too, I was able to go out one night a some new friend's birthday party. A night with adults!!! Amazing! I got to meet a lot of nice and interesting people, and I am very happy that I am slowly making this my home surrounded by people that I feel connected with and happy with.

I have also been sewing lately. Just small quick projects, but it feels good to get back to it. It makes me want to continue with bigger ones. I think next is going to be my curtains.

I made a small tissue holder for the birthday girl. It was something that I had to whip in a few minutes as I knew that I was going to the party in a very short notice. I hadn't made one of these in a long time, and they are so easy!

Hoy hace mucho FRIO! Mucho frío, con copos de nieve esta mañana, pero lo hermoso es que era soleado, así que mientras llevaba Luca al cole esta mañana, parecía como si cayese purpurina del cielo, purpurina brillante bajo el sol, qué bonito! No me importa el frío, siempre y cuando haga sol.

Tuvimos a los abuelos Luca durante un fin de semana largo. Fue muy bueno para todos nosotros. Luca les echaba de menos y estuvo muy entretenido todo el fin de semana. Incluso aprendió a jugar a las cartas, que me sorprendió, porque sé que él no sabía los números bien del todo y ahora se está volviendo mucho mejor. Tuve suerte también, tuve la oportunidad de salir una noche a una fiesta de cumpleaños con nuevos amigos. Una noche con adultos! Increíble! Conoci a un montón de gente agradable e interesante, y estoy feliz de que poco a poco voy creando mi nicho, rodeada de gente con la que me siento conectada y feliz.
También he estado cosiendo últimamente. Sólo pequeños proyectos rápidos, pero da gusto volver a la costura. Me dan ganas de continuar con proyectos mas grandes. Creo el proximo vna a ser mis cortinas.

Hice un pequeño porta kleenex para la chica del cumpleaños. Era algo que tenía que inventarme en pocos minutos ya que supe de la fiesta un poquito antes. No había hecho uno de estos en mucho tiempo, y son tan fáciles!

I also made a GPS cover for my father in law. It is the same as the one I made for myself some time ago. So easy too and so convenient!

También hice una funda al GPS para mi suegro. Es la misma que la que hice para mí hace algún tiempo. Fue también muy fácil y es tan util!

I have also started using my kitchenaid to make a cake. The flavor was great, white cake with orange scent, and the icing was really good, cream cheese with orange flavor, but the cake was a bit too dry for my taste. I just have to keep on making them until I get better at it! The problem is that I have to eat the whole cake afterwards...or until I get tired of it...I had to froze half of it, so I better shake my body in zumba or else my love handles are going to grow at incredible speed...

También he empezado a utilizar mi KitchenAid para hacer una tarta. El sabor era rico, bizcocho blanco con aroma de naranja y la crema salio muy buena, de queso crema con sabor a naranja, pero el bizcocho salio demasiado seco para mi gusto. Sólo tengo que seguir haciéndolo hasta que me salga mejor! El problema es que tengo que comermelo después ... o hasta que me canse de el... he tenido que congelar la mitad, así que mejor menearme un poco en zumba, o sino me van a salir michelines a la velocidad del rayo ...

Animal snowflakes and more...

A few weeks ago, we learn how to make animal snowflakes. We were taught by the artist who had created them and Luca and specially me, we both had a great time cutting them. I decided to buy the book to continue making new shapes, and I am so excited about it because it is really simple and the results are amazing. Now I just need a laminator so I can hand them in the window.

Hace unas semanas, nos enteramos de cómo hacer copos de nieve de animales. Nos enseñó una artista que los había creado y Luca y especialmente yo, nos lo pasamos en grande cortandolos. Me decidí a comprar el libro para seguir haciendo nuevos copos, y estoy muy entusiasmada, porque es muy simple y los resultados son sorprendentes. Ahora necesito un laminador para poder pegarlos en la ventana.

I have a new addition to my kitchen...still don't know what to do with it, but I have lots of ideas, I need to do some research online and see what I can make to use it for the first time. I have always wanted one of these so I am very excited...

I did make something with my sewing machine this week, bean bags for the school valentine's party that I missed due to a stomach bug that knocked me down totally...

Hice algo con mi máquina de coser esta semana, bolsas de alubias para la fiesta de San Valentín del colegio que me perdí debido a un virus de estomago que me destrozo totalmente...

I think I will continue with the sewing since I have so many new things I want to make out of that book, and of course, I haven't forgotten my new addiction, drawing. I'm getting many interesting books from the library! and the guitar is also on my mind!

Creo que voy a seguir con la costura ya que tengo tantas cosas nuevas que quiero hacer de ese libro, y por supuesto, no he olvidado mi nueva adicción, el dibujo. He recibido muchos libros interesantes de la biblioteca... y la guitarra también la tengo en mente!

More drawing more snow

I am enjoying my new thing, drawing. I wish I could attend those meeting to draw and paint with other artists, but I guess I will have to hold off for now and do it by myself at home. I have found a sketching class and I am thinking about joining. It would be nice to get feedback from an artist. I am just an beginner trying new things but have not had any painting/drawing instruction since I was about 8. Back those days I was pretty good I thought. I could really paint with oils but I haven't done that for ages. I guess I do have a good eye, but I am lacking technique and also practice, like with everything else (guitarrrr). I should post the video of Luca singing like a flamenco singer...really cute. I am so glad he enjoys music...

Estoy disfrutando de mi nueva aficion, dibujar. Me gustaria ir a las reuniones en las que dibujan y pintan con otros artistas, pero creo que por ahora me tendre que aguantar y hacerlo yo sola en casa. He encontrado una clase de dibujo y estoy pensando en meterme. Estaria bien que alguien me diera su opinion de artista. Solo soy una principiante intentando cosas nuevas pero no he tenido ninguna clase de dubijo/pintura desde que tenia 8 anhos. En aquellos tiempos se me daba bien. Podia pintar bien con oleos pero no lo he hecho desde hace muchos anhos. Creo que tengo buen ojo, pero no tengo la tecnica ni la practica, como con todo lo demas (la guitarraaa). Deberia poner el video de Luca tocando la guitarra como un cantaor flamenco....mas mono. Que bien que le guste la musica.

Ready or not...

I am not sure why, but Luca has been bringing up his father in his thoughts and conversations. I always mention him at least once a day before he goes to sleep, but of course we don't talk about him in most of our daily routines. Well, lately he has been including him in his games, and if he reserves a seat for me in the couch another one is for his father. I wonder what is going on in his head. I wonder what he sees that makes him want to have his dad right here...probably other kids with dads. He knows he is not here and when I ask him where he is, he says he is in his house. He even pictures the moment when his dad is going to walk through our door and how he is going to hug us and all and then he is going to leave again and say goodbye and chao. I think Luca is feeling lonely, being used to quite a social life that we had in Florida, and here after school is just the two of us. He loves spending time with me, we have lots of fun together, but he misses having different people around. I am trying to meet different people, and I have already, but it is hard to develop relationships with some continuity. It is great having language to be able to understand him and communicate with him. It is helping him grow and mature too. I better be prepared for all that.

No estoy segura por qué, pero Luca ha estado recordando a su padre en sus pensamientos y conversaciones. Yo siempre lo menciono al menos una vez al día antes de irse a dormir, pero por supuesto no hablamos de él en la mayor parte de nuestras rutinas diarias. Bueno, últimamente ha venido incluyendole en sus juegos, y si reserva un puesto para mí en el sofá, reserva otro para su padre. Me pregunto qué estará pasando por su cabeza. Me pregunto lo que él ve que le hace desear tener a su padre aquí ... probablemente a otros niños con sus papas. Él sabe que no está aquí, y cuando le pregunto dónde está, dice que está en su casa. Incluso se imagina del momento en que su papá va a pasar por nuestra puerta y cómo nos va a abrazar a nosotros y todo y luego se va a ir de nuevo y decir adiós y chao. Creo que Luca se siente solo, acostumbrado a toda la vida social que tuvimos en Florida, y en cambio aquí después de la escuela estamos sólos los dos. Le encanta pasar el tiempo conmigo, nos divertimos mucho juntos, pero echa de menos tener diferentes personas alrededor. Estoy tratando de conocer a gente diferente, y ya lo he hecho, pero es difícil establecer relaciones con cierta continuidad. Es genial tener el idioma para poder entenderle y comunicarme con él. Le está ayudando a crecer y a madurar también. Será mejor que este preparada para todo esto.
